Not to worry: Pelvic ultrasound (US) is a routine study after physical exam for heavy menstrual bleeding. Usually you will get a transabdominal (TA) scan and a transvaginal (TV) scan. They will look for a structural reason for your symptoms (most likely fibroids). If nothing is seen on your US study, they may do a special US exam where they inject sterile water in to uterine cavity to look for a polyp.
