Wanted to know if calcifications in breasts could turn into tumors?

Yes: A specific type of calcification found on mammograpy has a high incidence of associated small or in-situ cancer. The calcium is not diffuse but localized to a cluster and can not be large pieces but rather microcalcium in one region where 6-10 or more of the microcalciums are seen. Bx is indicated.then.

May need biopsy.: Calcifications won't turn into anything, but rather are a sign that something is going on in that area. There are different types of calcifications and depending on their appearance, may require a biopsy to rule out early breast cancer or in situ breast cancer (DCIS). There are many types of calcifications that don't need a biopsy and if biopsy proven to be benign, they don't need to be excised.
