Wrong question: Relationships are more important than being right, and you will never settle this in any case when it's in the family. Don't try. You cannot make another person be reasonable. If you are in an abusive situation, get out by whatever means. Set appropriate limits. Agree to disagree. Assert your independence and be ready to support yourself if need be. Say "I love you" often even if you don't. Cheers

You're all at fault.: Technically I'd say all of you were at fault for not settling the issue amicably. Family members should be able to resolve conflict without resorting to arguing. I think you all could use some education on conflict resolution and productive problem solving.
