Need exam of stool: Pinworms usually produce severe itching, particularly at night, around the anus. A scotch tape test looking for the worms is the best way to diagnose this and is fairly simple. No way to know what the "string looking things" are without some tests.

Yes: Pyrantel pomate is sold otc under various names like pin-rid , antiminth (pyrantel) and pin-x. When used as directed it has activity against several worm like paracites.The earthworm like thing was not a pin worm but likely ascaris.This product may help.A visit with your doc and some stool studies may be needed to sort out what problems you have.

Very small: Pinworms look like small rolled-up pieces of toilet paper. Doctors sometimes use the "tape" test at night to diagnose them because pinworms come out at night and will get stuck to the adhesive.

Enterobius: Unlikely to present in this manner. About the only worm you are likely to see grossly in the stool would be Ascaris, and these are very large and usually quite mobile. Enterobiasis, which primarily causes itching in the anal area is seldom without symptoms.
