Hormone drop: First of all, I'm sorry for your loss. After a miscarriage, the HCG levels drops. Sometimes it can take it a while to drop down to zero, but you won't likely ovulate until it does. If there is still some placental tissue in the uterus, removing it with a D&C will speed up the drop. I usually recommend you have two normal periods before you try again, to give your body time to heal.
