A member asked:

If stools are small, round, hard and infrequent, will docusate help regulate bowels and ease feeling of constipation?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Stool softeners: Ducosate is a stool softener. It will not regulate bowel movements. Try to increase your fiber intake along with water. You should take 6-8 glasses of water daily. If this does not work, try a gentile laxative such as miralax (polyethylene glycol). Avoid irritants like senna; as they can cause your bowels to become habituated to them.
