Is not going to hurt: Pain for 6 months in a tendon usually means tendinosis rather than tendinitis. The problem is not inflammation but failure of the tendon to heal. Techniques such as prolotherapy or PRP can help. TENS and Ultrasound are not going to hurt and may help but will not treat the cause of the problem. http://otwithmd.com/what-is-prolotherapy/

Probably not: If treatments not helping consider ultrasound guided tendon injection of platelet rich plasma to enhance healing. Ultrasound guided needling of the tendon can be done at the same time to cause increased blood flow in the affected area. Remember this is not really tendonitis (implies inflammation) but degenerative tendon changes called tendonosis or tendonopathy.
