Scoliosis surgery: A progressive weakness in the lower extremity after spine surgery suggests there is compression on the spinal cord. The causes of spinal cord or nerve root compression ranges from hardware failure, hematoma formation, infection, to herniated discs above or below the fusion. See your surgeon for evaluation of the weakness.

Possible nerve issue: After scoliosis surgery, it is possible that the nerves that run from the spinal cord can be injuried. You will need to have your lower back evaluated for compression or impingement by you spine doctor and may require another MRI of the lumbar/sacral region. Also, evaluate NCV studies.
