You won't like this: The latest evidence indicates that physical exercise, not mental exercise, is what is best for preserving cognitive function, especially in later life. It may have to do with effects on brain blood flow. The mind and the body are one; what's good for the body is good for the brain. This is not what couch potatoes want to hear who'd rather do little parlor games on their sofas, but it's true.
