What is discopathy, disc degenerative disease or herniated disc?

Disc herniation: The disc between two vertebrae is made of outer annulus and an inner pulposis. When there is a tear in the annulus some of the pulposis can squeeze out. A herniated disc is the pulposis that squeezes out of the annulus. Similar to jelly squeezing out of a jelly donut.

Similar Terms: Suggesting different issues in which the spine has pathology. Discopathy suggests the disc has some abnormality, Degenerative Disc Disease suggests the same, and herniated disc suggests a movement of the disc out of its normal shape and location. All three suggest similar but distinct disease processes.
