What to do when during im injection an artery was hit?

Bleeding control: Pressure and cold applications help to control a bleeding blood vessel. Elevating the affected limb,if feasible, would help also. Go to the hospital er if bleeding is not controlled.

Hold pressure: For several minutes (5-10) after removal of the needle. Do NOT inject anything into artery. Depends on the location, check for signs of adequate blood flow in the affected area
