Does augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) affect the birth control pill?

Interaction meds: Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) might affect the metabolism of the oral contraceptives although in general we do not get too much worry. But there are reports that it may decrease the effects of the birth control pills and an unwanted pregnancy might happen.
