Almost never: As an er doc, the answer is no.In 30 years I have only seen 2 patients who actually were at risk for injury and they were unique as were their circumstances..Normally, anxiety should not raise your BP beyond what strenuous ewercise will, and should be safe.

Not really.: Anxiety does cause a spike when you're anxious. It is similar to the spike in blood pressure when you see your doctor, called the "white coat syndrome". The blood pressure goes back to normal when you calm down. Learning relaxation techniques will help.
