Blepharitis treatmen: The most common cause is blepharitis, commonly known as "granulated eyelids." this can go thru phases where the lids look quiet and other times red or inflammed. This is like having eczema, or dandruff, along the eyelids and leads to an inflammatory response that gives the redness. There are other causes, including dry eye and emotional upsets, i. E. Crying and rubbing the eye.

Lid scrubs: It depends on the cause of the redness. A common cause is blepharitis, which is inflammation and blockage of the oil glands that line the eyelids. The best treatment is to apply warm compresses for a few minutes and then scrub along the lash line using baby shampoo. Repeat this once or twice daily. If the redness doesn't improve after 3-4 weeks, see your eye md to rule out another cause.

Blepharitis-dandruff: This is caused by blepharitis or dandruff of the eyelids. It is typically caused by a staph infection that is almost always curable with antibiotic ointment or eyedrops. Prevention is best accomplished by using one of the over the counter lid scrub formulas such as sterilid foam or occusoft cleansing medicated pads. No tears baby shampoo is an older treatment in scrubbing the closed eyelids.
