Tongue numbness: The most common serious cause of tongue numbness, called Paresthesia, is nerve damage, which can affect any part of the body, including the tongue. The most common cause of nerve damage to the tongue are botched dental procedures like wisdom tooth extractions, root canals, or implants. Sometimes allergies to certain foods, or meds which might also have swelling or blisters.
