They are toxic to ce: They are toxic to certain bacteria, so they alter your normal micro flora. As a treatment for dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis, this becomes irrelevant. OTC shampoos which will probably help if used at least. 3x a day (5x is OK) include. Zinc pyrethione (head& shoulders, DHS Zn), selenium sulfide (Selsun, Head &shoulders), salicylic acid (TSal, DHS SAL). If this fails, there are prescriptions. U
