Surgeon: Nec fasc is a surgical disease. It requires prompt, aggressive removal of infected tissue. Antibiotics are used, but alone are not enough to treat. Different bacteria can be involved. Most commonly it is bacteria found in the GI tract, less commonly strep and clostridia. They are all potentially life-threatening and make patients critically ill.
