A member asked:

Could you please describe how fatty acids are absorbed and transported?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Quite a process: Hi. Fats (triglycerides) are broken down in the intestines to fatty acids and monoglycerides, emulsified in bile acids, transported to gut wall, absorbed, re-esterified into triglycerides, packaged into chylomicron particles, transported in intestinal lymph to the blood, then circulate. Lipases break down the chylomicron triglycerides, and they're taken into cells. The chylo remnant goes to liver!
