What are the dangers of taking amitryptiline long term?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Usually minimal, BUT: The biggest issues involve anti-cholinergic side effects which can cause dryness of mouth and eyes, problems with bladder function, drop in blood pressure on standing, and problems with memory, and organizational skills. There has been some concern of increased risk of suicide in this category of drugs.
