Non-cardiac pyrosis?: For food-associated epigastric pain, reduce consumption of spicy, greasy food, mints, chocolate, tomato-based products, caffeinated & fizzy drinks, eating before bedtime. Lose weight as warranted. Elevate head of bed on blocks. Stop smoking, alcohol, nonprescribed NSAID's. Consider trial of over-the-counter PPI's (Prilosec, Nexium, (esomeprazole) etc). If persistent, rule out pancreatic &/or biliary source too.
