Is there a connection between cirrhosis of the liver and a cold?

No: Cirrhosis is severe scarring of the liver. This develops over many years, so a cold doesn't cause cirrhosis. Sometime, having a cold when you have cirrhosis, can make you very sick since your immune system might have a very difficult time fighting off the cold. If you have fevers or chills and have known cirrhosis, you need to have this brought to the attention of your physician.
