Need expert help. can somebody please tell me what dehydroepiandrosterone is?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Steroidogenic path: Hi. DHEA is an intermediate in steroidogenesis. Unfortunately, it's gotten a lot of hype over the last 25 years, but hype is just that - hype. DHEA is made by your own steroidogenic tissues. Taking supplements is expensive, and only good for placebo effect (which works in ⅓ of people). When DHEA is overproduced (e.g., non-classical CAH), it stimulates hirsutism and oligomenorrhea in women.
