Not necessarily: Peridex (chlorhexidine gluconate) is a prescription medication used for patients with periodontal problems, and has different ingredients than Listerine. Not Really: Peridex (chlorhexidine gluconate) is an Rx rinse that is recommended and is more effective than Listerine due to its lasting effect after the rinse has been used. Peridex (chlorhexidine gluconate) actually continues to kill bacteria for up to 60 minutes after rinse.
