It's okay to use listerine instead of peridex (chlorhexidine gluconate) right?

Not necessarily: Peridex (chlorhexidine gluconate) is a prescription medication used for patients with periodontal problems, and has different ingredients than Listerine. If they did the same thing, there would be no need for the Peridex (chlorhexidine gluconate), right? Discuss this question with the dentist who gave you the prescription and is treating you for your gingival problems.

Not Really: Peridex (chlorhexidine gluconate) is an Rx rinse that is recommended and is more effective than Listerine due to its lasting effect after the rinse has been used. Peridex (chlorhexidine gluconate) actually continues to kill bacteria for up to 60 minutes after rinse.
