A member asked:

Will i be able to fight chicken pox after thymectomy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

T-cell functions: The T-cells of the immune system are one of the major components responsible for fighting viral infections, and mostly originate in the bone marrow. As long as your immune system has been properly primed either through natural infection or passive vaccination, protection should be intact. Since the thymus loses most activity after adolescence, its removal should be inconsequential.
