It is quite unlikely: that you and your hamster are susceptible to the same viral illnesses. Hamsters can directly or indirectly transmit Rabies, Tularemia, Salmonellosis, Lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus, Dermatophytosis (ringworm, dermatomycosis), Rodentolepiasis and Hymenolepiasis (tapeworms).
