Rarely : There is a rare condition called hypersensitivity pneumonitis or extrinsic allergic aveolitis that can be caused by exposure to hamsters and their feces. Usually this is from birds, but any animal can cause it if you have a proclivity and are exposed long enough. The cure is to remove the patient from the animal.
