It depends: It depends on the type of cyst , the size, and the stability over time as well as personal risk factors and symptoms. Most small cysts are benign and can be safely followed with ultrasound. Larger cysts and cysts with suspicious features may need further evaluation. If your cyst has been stable for 8 years it's likely that it is benign.
