Otalgia: Otalgia is the name for an ear ache. If there is no hearing loss, then an ear infection is unlikely. The most common cause of ear ache in the absence of infection is related to the jaw joint or the jaw muscles, so called TMD. Other causes of referred pain to the ear are diseases of the throat, and or larynx and finally, diseases of the cervical spine.
