I am having some tightness and pain in my sternum area. i used to be able to stretch and get it to pop out, but can't this time. what can i do?

Not a Heart Attack?: Nate, Hopefully this is not a heart attack. If you think it might be, then get to the hospital. If you are sure that it is not. Continue stretching, take an anti inflammation medication like Aspirin or motrin, given the location of the pain, I would suggest aspirin. You could try warm or cold compacts as well. Physical therapy could be a solution as well. Try a chiropractor.
