Ovulation: Ovulation is when a woman's body releases an egg which can then be fertilized by a sperm, leading to pregnancy. For many reasons, some women ovulate regularly and others do not. Women who do not ovulate regularly often have difficulty getting pregnant. Some ovulation problems are inherited, others can be caused by an imbalance of hormones.
