PROPER?: LIKELY THE TREATMENT PRESCRIBED BY ER PHYSICIAN WILL BE THE PROPER ONE. WHY WOULD YOU TAKE A KID TO ER FOR THAT? JUST TO WAIT FOR HOURS? I WOUL RECOMMEND TAKING HIM TO THE PEDIATRICIEN.

Depends!: Treatment of boils, abscesses, vary depending on size, location and length of infection. Warm compresses, antibiotics are mainstay early, lancing or opening for drainage may also be indicated. If a young child has had multiple boils, a work up including lab tests may also be indicated. Good luck to you and your child.
