Two Different Issues: All life based on water containing salts. Salt intake has little effect on blood pressure, thus check BP, preferably using a mercury gauge (only reliable gauge), stethoscope & someone experienced who will teach you how to read systolic (fist palpable) and diastolic (last palpable) pulse under the center of the cuff. While constantly adjusted by brain, very few consciously aware with any accuracy.
