Should not need it : a supplement should not be needed, regular sun exposure and the normal supplementation in foods should be adequate. If there is a genetic issue then your regular physician should be able to make good recommendations.

Vit D for infants: Vit D is recommended supplementation for breasted babies since it doesn't provide needed daily requirement, a nature's paradox. If your baby gets formula mainly ( or at least 60% of milk ingested) there is no need to supplement as it has already been added in the baby formula.

Check with MD: Normally there is no need to give a baby Vit. D at this age. If the baby is on good formula or breast feeding that should be sufficient . Are there any reasons or needs that a physician has that has raised this issue? If not, ask the baby's MD if it is indicated. Good luck with your special newborn
