Consider bursitis: I would consider a diagnosis of bursitis of the hip which is an inflammation of one of the sacks of fluid that surround and protect many of the body's larger joints. This can be very painful, as you describe, with more pain once weight/pressure is placed upon it. You can try an NSAID like Naproxen or Ibuprofen to help with the pain and the inflammation but you may need a steroid injection.
