Body making fuel: It generally implies that your body isn't getting the nourishment it needs and is instead breaking down stored energy in your body which releases ketones and proteins into your urine. Were you fasting when you did the test or are you dieting? This also appears in diabetics but you don't mention that as a known problem. if you were just fasting for your appointment, don't worry too much.

Trace RBCs ; protein: This means there is a small amount of some source of rbcs ; protein in the urine and the meaning of this needs to be looked at with any other lab abnormalities, signs/symptoms, clinical context. If nothing else abnormal, then blood with protein is entering your urine in some way. Are there symptoms like burning with urine, flank pain, recent infection, etc? What level?: It depends on much protein is in your urine - it is normal to have transient or small amounts. High amount of proteinuria can manifest as froth or "bubbles" in the urine. Also a 24 hr collection of >3.5 g per 24 hours needs an evaluation.

Dr. Evan Altman
Psychiatry 19 years experience
Proteinuria: Protein is normally not found in urine. Nitrate can be normally found in urine ; results from protein breakdown. System used to quantify protein is 0, trace, and then 1+ to 4+. So there is a source of protein in the urine and the meaning of this needs to be looked at with any other lab abnormalities, signs/symptoms, clinical context. Follow up with your doctor for any further evaluation/treatment.
