Parenting: We all get there. Children can really push your buttons! If they are not listening or disobeying, be more consistent with discipline, so they take you seriously. However, if you seem to be losing your patience, very, very, easily, or you feel like you might lose control; you may want to speak to a counselor. Having someone to call, and give you a break, may help, as well.

Effective discipline: has to be done without emotion. Tell your child what behavior you want, the reward for complying & the consequence for non-compliance, After one warning. "Walk, don't talk" your child to time-out without making eye contact or looking upset, because that's a " pay-off". Once you consistently ignore a behavior it first worsens, an attempt to elicit your old reinforcing responses, then goes away.
