Mononucleosis links: EBV is one of the most common human viral infections, and up to 90% of adults are seropositive for antibodies (many infections produce no symptoms). Up to 50% of children are positive by the age of 5. There is a statistical link between EBV and lymphomas, and the virus has been implicated in triggering autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis and systemic lupus.

Mono and EBV: Mono is a viral illness typically caused by the epstein barr virus. It causes fatigue in almost everyone, and can cause a variety of other symptoms from sore throats to abdominal pain. It is very contagious (which is why it is called the kissing disease).
