Root canal symptoms: Hi, lingering pain is not the only symptom which determines the need for a riot canal treatment. There are many other factors that will be helpful with the diagnosis and treatment planning which can be identified by your dental provider.

Why wait?: If you have tooth sensitivity, it could just as easily be caused by a cavity. The sensitivity could easily be caused by the decay having penetrated the enamel and reached the dentin where there are nerve endings. If your tooth is newly sensitive, why wait to do a root canal when a filling might solve the problem and for much less $. Ask for your dentist's help in determining best course!

No time frame...: Has the tooth been newly restored, or is this a cavity they you have not yet fixed? Root canal necessity is not always based on how sensitive the tooth is.. there are many factors that go into the equation. Your local dentist is better prepared to answer your question.
