A member asked:

How much time do antibodies stay in your body after the inital infection is fought off?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Gradual decline: Antibody production peaks at around 3-4 weeks then gradually declines. After several months they decline to lower levels but enough to confer lifelong protection in the case of certain infections like measles. Additionally once reexposed, the immune system has memory cells that can ramp up production much faster than the initial infection. AB to some agents are not lifelong.
