A member asked:

Can you tell me how the mrsa superbug developed?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Gene mutation: Every germ has genes that transfer instructions on how the germ is built and maintained. Their DNA can mutate at any point and may change the germs metabolism or structure slightly. Since they can reproduce in minutes, the effect of mutation can show up quickly. Germs with the mutation may resist an antibiotic, and all of its offspring will too.
