A member asked:

How much time will i be irritable after quitting smoking and drinking?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Kind of up to you: Irritability following smoking cessation usually is maximal about a week out, and tends to fade by 2-3 weeks. If you were physically dependent on alcohol, some post-acute withdrawal syndrome can persist for several weeks. However, you don't have to just endure it. Exercise will help get your endorphins going and make you feel better, as can group supports, meditation and other activities.
