Hydroxyzine for anx: Hydroxyzine (brand name vistaril) is an anti-histamine. Most Pts know abt anti-histamines in treatment of allergies, for instance. However, they are often prescribed to treat anxiety, as well, due to a calming effect. If anxiety also causes you to have difficulty with sleep, an added benefit may be that the med is sedating.
