Shaving cuts/nicks: The face is highly vascular, i.e., it has lots of blood vessels; so a nick or cut will bleed profusely unless you apply direct pressure to it or assist the clotting process with a styptic pencil (aluminum sulfate) which helps constrict blood vessels and stop bleeding.

Capillary flow: Shaving cuts bleed quite a lot due to the tiny capillaries that ooze when cut.
