A member asked:

How could these collective injuries (fractured skull, arms, pelvis etc) be assessed and treated by doctors?

Dr. Joseph Pfeifer answered

Specializes in Trauma Surgery

ATLS: Trauma surgeons use a system for evaluating the multiply injured patient. We teach it in Advanced Trauma Life Support. We deal with the crucial areas of airway, breathing and hemorrhage control first. Then systematically examine the patient. We determine if surgery is needed and what other specialists are required. We use all sorts of neat tools to do this.
