Many people have it: Many people have thalassemia minor. It's more common Mediterranean, Arab, or Asian peoples. "Thal minor" is "Thal trait", and means a person has one gene for the disorder. That means he should have no symptoms. If he marries a woman with who carries no blood disorder genes, then about half of their kids will inherit one thalassemia gene from Dad, and be Thal minor kids, usually without symptoms.

Yes: Thal minor is a rather non-issue for most patients.Your potential offspring should be relatively healthy as long as that is the only issue.If concerned, you can get as much info as you can and meet with a genetic counselor. They could analyse a family tree and show you what if any risks you have with this pairing.
