OCPs and spotting: Occasionally women will have spotting while taking birth control pills. Left sided pain can be a cyst, but usually those don't develop while taking birth control pills (we prescribe pills to prevent cyst formation for some patients). Another common cause of left sided pelvic pain is constipation or GI upset.
