See ophthalmologist: You may have damage to the branch of the facial nerve that closes the eyelids. This is called Bell's palsy.Frequent artificial tears and LacriLube ointment is need to protect your eye until normal blinking recovers. Go to an ophthalmologist to help you with the treatment for this.

Jaw surgery problem: This type of finding is usually associated with surgery of the temporomandibular joint where the nerve to the eyelid is stretched and the muscle weakened. Aside from this, and depending on which jaw was treated, the most common problem after non TMJ jaw surgery is numbness or change in sensation of the lip, cheek, or face. See your surgeon to discuss this further.

Motor CN VII damage: The facial nerve supplies the muscles of facial expression. Damage to this cranial nerve may result in ptosis. The surgical injury may result in loss of function.
