May have adhesions: You need to see your physician for an examination and perhaps some XRays and lab tests. Heavy drinking can cause pancreatitis, which can produce pain as you describe. So can adhesions, which can recur. I can't guarantee that you won't end up with surgery again, but narcotic dependence is an unappealing alternative.
