Brain & spinal cord: The central nervous system is made up of the brain and spinal cord. The peripheral nervous system is made up of the nerves that leave the spinal cord and innervate the rest of the body.

It controls the body: Basically, it is the system which controls most functions of the body. It is comprised of the brain, spinal cord and nerves. Messages from the central nervous system (CNS) are sent to the peripheral nervous system from which they receive feedback. This allows most bodily functions to stay in balance without the person giving it a thought (i.e. Breathing, heart rate, balance, temperature).
