Since suboxone is an opioid how or why is it better for me biologically than oxycodone?

Suboxone is used: good question - both can be abused and are, but at a much higher rate - Oxycodone is much more dangerous since it can lead to both Tolerance (need more and more to get the same "high" effect and Dependence (do not feel good without it). Both can be used to treat pain, but Oxycodone produces a much ":Higher " high.

Suboxone: Should be used to help get off opioids by slowly weaning off totally. The oxycodone has a shorter half life and has quick peak after taking. And a quick decline. So the Suboxone is better for slow decrease. But it should not be used as a pain medication.

Why suboxone? Abuse: no one on this site can tell you which med, if any, is right for you. To decide if you should be taking opiates, or opiate replacement tx at all, you should have a thorough consult with your MD. Some pts switch from other opiates to Suboxone bc it cant be abused by injection (causes withdrawal), or bc they may feel less likely to overuse d/t slightly limited euphoria assoc. w/ buprenorphine.

Suboxone: contains a partial agonist and has a ceiling effect. It also contains an antagonist that is not a narcotic.
